Materials Transparency & Health Consulting for Building Products
We help building product manufacturers achieve material transparency by identifying Red List chemicals, guiding safer material substitutions, and preparing Declare labels, HPDs, and EPDs so their products can be confidently specified in high-performance, healthy buildings.
Our focus is on technical building product sectors including architectural lighting, electrical infrastructure, insulation materials, acoustic systems, ceiling systems, flooring products, furniture and specialty interior architectural materials.
Services we provide
We guide manufacturers through the full process of achieving a Declare Label, from ingredient disclosure to final submission with the International Living Future Institute. Our work includes supply chain outreach, Red List screening, documentation preparation, and coordination with ILFI to help products meet the transparency standards required by architects and high-performance building projects.
Declare Label Consulting
Signal 7 prepares complete Health Product Declaration (HPD) reports that disclose product ingredients and associated hazards using the Health Product Declaration Collaborative open standard. We work with manufacturers and suppliers to collect ingredient data, review chemical hazards, and prepare HPDs that support specification in projects pursuing sustainable building certifications.
Health Product Declarations (HPDs)
Many products contain chemicals restricted by the Living Building Challenge Red List. Signal 7 identifies potential Red List risks within product formulations and works with engineering teams and suppliers to identify viable material alternatives that maintain performance requirements while improving material health.
